Scope of Practice
Alcove offers interfaith spiritual care grounded in reflection, discernment, and thoughtful accompaniment. The services provided through this practice — including Spiritual Counsel, Spiritual Direction, Discernment, Coaching & Integration, and Life Transition Care — are designed to support spiritual growth, moral clarity, and intentional living. This work centers on attentive listening, meaningful conversation, and the cultivation of alignment between belief and action. It provides space to explore questions of vocation, identity, faith, conscience, transition, and personal development within a respectful and steady framework.
Nature of Services
Alcove provides non-clinical spiritual care. Services are conversational and contemplative in nature. They are not psychological treatment, mental health counseling, medical care, or crisis intervention.
Alcove does not:
- Diagnose mental health conditions
- Provide psychotherapy
- Prescribe or manage medication
- Offer emergency or crisis services
- Provide legal, financial, or medical advice
If concerns arise that fall outside the scope of spiritual care, referrals to licensed professionals may be recommended. Spiritual care can complement other forms of professional support, but it does not replace them.
Confidentiality
Conversations within Alcove are treated with discretion and respect. Confidentiality is maintained except in circumstances where disclosure is required by law, such as credible threats of harm to self or others, or situations involving abuse or neglect that must be reported under applicable regulations.
Clients are encouraged to discuss any questions about privacy at the outset of the work.
Appropriate Use of Services
Alcove is best suited for individuals who are:
- Seeking spiritual reflection and growth
- Navigating questions of meaning, belief, or vocation
- Facing transitions in life or faith
- Desiring intentional development and alignment
Alcove is not appropriate for individuals in immediate crisis or those requiring psychiatric or psychological treatment. If you are experiencing an emergency, please contact 911 or seek immediate assistance through local emergency services. In the United States, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline can be reached at 988.
Interfaith Framework
Alcove serves individuals from diverse faith traditions and philosophical backgrounds. This practice does not promote a single theological position or attempt to shape a client’s beliefs. The focus remains on deepening awareness, strengthening integrity, and supporting faithful responsiveness within one’s own tradition or worldview.
Professional Boundaries
Sessions are scheduled for 45 minutes unless otherwise agreed upon. A 24-hour cancellation policy applies. Communication outside of scheduled sessions is limited to administrative matters such as scheduling and payment.
Alcove maintains clear relational and professional boundaries in order to preserve the integrity of the work and the dignity of those served.
